Spell-Bee Contest

On October 6, a spell-bee contest was held in the dining hall for all the classes up to 5th grade. It was organised by Mars class teacher Vijayashree, while she points out that all the teachers helped and participated in it.

The class teachers from Sun class up to Asteroid class each had selected their best spellers as their delegation. These chosen children proudly sat around colourful tables in the front of the hall.

Before they would start, a mock contest was held. The teachers showed how the given words had to be spelled out with a microphone. After a few rounds of demonstration, it was the children's turn to spell the words that were picked out of a golden basket. It all started with easy 3-letter and 4-letter words only to get more difficult towards the end. Whenever one group spelled the word correctly, they earned scores for it and could immediately pick the next word.
Even the Sun class children participated, as they had to identify the first sound of a word.

Organiser Vijayashree is quite happy with the children's performance, but she would like to improve it even more by working out lists of words the students should learn. Eventually, many more spell-bee contests will be held at the Parikrma school in Koramangala.

The Mercury class children are the proud winners of this contest and look delighted holding up their prices!
